Background Story

It was a river of potential psychic energy, P.P.E., blue and bright and pulsing with raw magic. Rising hundreds of feet into the air, it rippled, it swelled, it flowed, it... it... completely enraptured her. Was there anything more wondrous in the whole wide world?

Lucy saw a ley line only once while growing up in Northern Gun. They had little exposure to magic up north, but seeing that wall of undulating blue light softly illuminating the snow laden forests on that cold winter's night changed the course of Lucy's life. She could not get it out of her head.

With mamma passed, most of Lucy's youth had been spent climbing around one of those big manufacturing floors where her daddy and his team produced some of the technological miracles that drew interest from across North America. She absorbed a lot of technological know-how during that time, and was often found tinkering with wires, gears, struts, and screws. It was when daddy found out that she had destroyed mamma's diamond wedding ring replacing the power source of their house fan with some kind of half-cocked device that her obsession with magitech was exposed. Yes, there was yelling, and some pleading, but she had come too far and wasn't about to give up now. Not wanting to jeopardize his position and worried that she would get herself into serious trouble if she stayed, Lucy snuck out of the only home she'd ever known and made her way to Stormspire.

That seems like a lifetime ago. Sure, she had trained up her techno-wizardy on the workshop floors of Stormspire, and even worked briefly in Dweomer Vehicle Compound, but since then the world had turned upside down... twice! She had been displaced once by Coalition air strikes and then a second time by some interdimensional demon turf war. Feeling a bit lost in in this world, unable (or was it unwilling) to go back to Northern Gun, she was in search of her next silver lining. That's when she head about this place called MercTown. Now that sounded like an adventure.
