Claire looks on in shock and gasps as Alistair pulls himself through the vegetation and collapses. Standing up, she rushes over to where he is and immediately starts assessing his medical condition, trying to ascertain just how injured he is and whether she could use conventional means of treating his wounds or if she will need to use her psychic abilities.

Time: 2 days pass for all. It is 1:00 p.m. at the end of this post. The sun rises at 6:40 a.m. The sun sets at 7:20 p.m.
Location: Campeche, Mexico
Temperature: Outside it is 95 degrees. (85-97 degrees during the day, drops to 67-77 degrees at night)

As the staff of Fringe Knowledge relax at the sight of their own returning, Claire rushes to him. She takes stock of his numerous wounds and quickly realizes that he used most of his strength in getting this far. The nurse determines that he has internal injuries of unknown extent, several broken ribs and numerous contusions and lacerations. While she's checking her friend, Alistair seems to stop breathing for a moment but starts up again. Claire's able to get him stabilized but it almost completely drains her.

Once Colonel Kurtz realizes the situation, he starts breaking camp so they can depart at first light. The trip back goes quicker than before but the trip still seems to drag over their concern for their injured teammate. finally the arrive back in Campeche and Jake checks them back into the hotel before starting the arrangements for the flight back to the states.Claire continues treating Alistair and is rewarded when he finally opens his eyes for a moment, squeezes Claire's hand and settles into a restful sleep.

(OOC - You've got a day to take care of any business in Mexico; my next post will get you back to L.A.)

Vlad watches lazily out of the window of the jeep as the team is brought back to the relative civilization of Campeche. When the group is checked into their Hotel, Vlad showers and changes clothes. Vlad keeps to himself mostly due to not speaking the local language. Vlad joins the group in any meals they decide to have, but mostly keeps to himself, processing the spirituality of the trip, and what it meant to him personally. Vlad spends the evening with a notepad and a pen, jotting the first notes to his article.

Vlad wrote:The ruins of the Mayan civilization are steeped in lore and myth. Primary of this is the myth of the Heroic twins, who with courage and guile tricked the ultimate tricksters in their own game.

As they head back to civilization, Claire keeps a close eye out on Alistair and his condition. She is reassured when he momentarily opens his eyes, squeezes her hand and seems to settle into a restful sleep, but the last thing she wants is to be caught unaware if he takes a turn for the worst. Given how much she’d had to do to keep Alistair alive – almost draining herself completely, Claire couldn't bear to have anything happen to Alistair now. For now, Claire sticks close to Alistair, making sure his condition doesn't deteriorate. If a time comes when she is confident that he'll be ok, Claire will get some medical supplies to replenish the ones that she'd used during their trip and try to get some sleep.

Jake seems more thoughtful than usual, spending a lot of time in his room contemplating his experiences. Thomas, true to his nature, enjoys a relaxing shower and organizes his notes before checking on Alistair. For her part, Claire hovers near her friend, ever mindful of the possibility of a relapse. She does take the opportunity of Thomas' visit to dash out and restock her supplies. To her relief she returns to find her patient in the same stable condition. Vlad retires to his room to begin putting his next story down on paper.

Benecio does manage to organize an elaborate meal in their honor, attended by the notables of the city. Surprisingly, Jake seems reserved despite the gala being the perfect venue. At one point the mayor takes Jake aside for a quiet word. Finally the time arrives to board the flight back to California. Despite the smog, Los Angeles seems like paradise with the slightly lower temperature and much reduced humidity.

A private ambulance is waiting to transport Alistair to a cottage at the Barlow Respiratory Hospital. Claire is able to ride with him and at a couple of times during the ride he opens his eyes and smiles warmly at her. once back at their office, Jake calls Vlad and Thomas into the conference room. "For the time being, I'm going to concentrate on Fringe Knowledge and let you two take the lead on investigations. I did have Roxanne place some ads for additional help in the local papers. I'll just be in the background to help with research and such. Oh, Stacy said she had business to attend to but she'll try to visit later."

Franklin starts the day with his usual routine of visiting the campground's convenience store for a decent cup of coffee and a newspaper. Settling down to catch up on world events, a small ad catches his eye.

Vlad sighs with relief when the plane touches down. Home sweet Home. Vlad thinks as he makes his way out of the Airport. Vlad heads off to his car, his mind slowly going over the events of the last few days, even his drive home is moderately distracted. Once home Vlad runs his laundry and puts away his gear for future use. Need to call that gunsmith again for more ammo. It's likely evening by time Vlad feels content enough to sit down to go over his notes and begin writing an article for the Fringe Knowledge. Vlad doesn't stay up too late as jet lag can take a lot out of a person. The next morning Vlad grabs his notes and makes his way to the office. Vlad listens with some trepidation as Jake decides to stick behind the scenes of the paper versus investigating with the team. All good things...

Vlad heads to the Paper's library and takes a spot at the table. "Morning Roxanne. Do we have a copy of Popol Vuh? I'd like to reference it in my next article." (OOC: I vaguely remember this being in the library.) (Research 1d100:

During Lunch, Vlad doesn't say much, but goes out of the way to purchase a newspaper to see what has happened in the world while they were gone (Streetwise: Weird 1d100:

Franklin finishes his coffee as he reads the wanted ad, " Fringe Knowledge, sounds like a good place to get started looking for answers." God has provided for me once again and I am thankful. He bows his head and says a prayer of thanks. Now lets find this place and see if they can use my skills. Maybe they will have answers for what I am searching for.

He makes his way back to his RV and prepares it to leave, once packed up and unhooked he will head out looking for the Fringe Knowledge office.

Claire smiles at Alistair when he opens his eyes and squeezes his hand gently. “We’re back in LA.” She tells him. “We’re heading to the Barlow Respiratory Hospital so you can complete your recovery.” She’ll make sure that Alistair is comfortable at the Hospital and, if he makes any requests for things he needs at the hospital, Claire promises to bring them by as soon as she is able to.

Claire then heads back to her house and enjoys a long luxurious shower and allows herself to rest before heading to Fringe Knowledge to check in with the others.

Date: Friday, April 28, 1984
Time: 7 days pass for all. It is 1:00 p.m. at the end of this post. The sun rises at 6:38 a.m. The sun sets at 7:23 p.m.
Location: Los Angeles, California
Temperature: Outside it is 77 degrees.

A week passes as the team settles back into life at home. Every time Claire visits Alistair, she finds him stronger and in better health. By the third day back, he's out of bed and walking around the cottage. While the physical trauma fades quickly, it seems the emotional wounds take much longer. The healer gets reports of nightmares troubling his sleep and bouts of insomnia from the nurses watching over him. Despite their friendship and shared troubles, Alistair can't seem to talk about his travails.

Thomas spends his time back with Jenny and writing or tinkering in the shop. Jake does introduce a potential new staff member on the second day, announcing him as Rev. Franklin Buck and mentioning he could bring a religious perspective to the paper. Vlad makes a note to visit his gunsmith to resupply before directing his attention to his story. Asking Roxanne for a book, she looks puzzled for a moment before she retreats into her area and emerges with a thick book. "Here it is; Jake ordered it before your trip but it arrived too late." A short while later, Jake brings a middle-aged man into his office and introduces him as Reverend Franklin Buck, a potential new staff writer. Franklin, for his part, gets a thorough interview with Jake, examining his beliefs and view on the supernatural. Apparently his answers are satisfactory because he gets a whirlwind tour of the facility and introductions to Thomas, Vlad and Roxanne. Finally Jake turns him loose with a request for a story on religion and the supernatural.

(OCC - unless there objections, I'd like to fast-forward two weeks, so please post accordingly.)

As Claire visits Alistair during the week, she is relieved to see that Alistair is recovering physically. She is a bit worried about his emotional state. Claire knows that Alistair can read her well enough so she doesn’t try to hide it. Claire simply lets Alistair know that she is there for him if he is ever ready to talk about what happened to him, but she won’t push him to do it in any way shape or form. When she visits, Claire regales Alistair with tales of the things that are going on down at the office with the rest of Fringe Knowledge.

During the next couple of weeks, Claire carries on her normal business of working at the hospital and working at Fringe Knowledge and visiting Alistair whenever she has a chance.

Franklin spends the two weeks trying to get to know others at Fringe Knowledge. He spends a bit of time exploring the area, getting a feel for California. He really enjoys the wonderful west coast weather and the city is really different from his home in Tennessee. He spends the rest of his time back at his RV looking in his books and reading his Bible working on his first article for Fringe Knowledge.

Vlad does what is necessary for his job with Fringe Knowledge. On his spare time, Vlad takes time to call the gunsmith who supplied him the silver bullets and order another batch in .45 ACP. Vlad will also make his way to a gun range and practice with his guns (using normal ammo of course). Vlad will offer to teach anyone he works with the basics of Russian, or any lore he knows. (is this still a thing?) Vlad will get to know the newest member of the paper while at work, but comes out likely not sure what to think of the holy man.

Over the course of a few nights Vlad will set up his ritual room in the tower of his home and meditate.
