Damn. He had hoped this dive had not been in vain.

Blackhaunt wrote:He does see a tunnel underwater at the northern most point of the pool that leads 30 feet or so to the North.

Maybe it hadn't. Cascade makes a beeline for the tunnel, hesitates at the entrance long enough to check for any threats, then, if clear, proceeds down the tunnel.

As Cascade dives in the water, Brute starts to protest but cuts himself short. No sense attracting attention to ourselves if he won't hear me anyway. We'll just have to hope for the best.

Black Dog wrote:"You don't smell that? It's like drinking Coors from a stainless steel urinal. But no mint cakes."

Brute nods. "I smell it, but I can't place it." His antennae work to gather more environmental data, and to try to identify the uncommon odor.

Brennet wrote:"Footprints are old. Maybe reactor taken long ago?"

Brute thinks about this. "Yeah, probably. Right after the initial meltdown I reckon there was a cleanup effort. The... if I remember correctly there was alien tech in the reactor or something, so they probably confiscated it all. But the dosimeters say the element is here so..."

Brennet wrote:"Is it the water itself?"

By Odin... Brute's eyes widen with horror. ... Cascade's swimming in it.

"Uhh... Maybe? Presence - Can you take a sample of this water and one of the dosimeters and put some distance between us, and see if the dosimeter pings on the water sample? Come back as soon as you can."

Jay moves around the pool of water trying to keep eyes on Cascade. As he circles the pool clockwise, he replies to Black Dog, "I don't smell anything besides the general nasty of this place but the way you describe it, I'm glad I don't smell it."

Loosing site of Cascade in the murky water, Jay looks up and scans the room. After a moment he says, "Brennet, you want to take a peak at what's behind the walls to the east and north? I can't help but think we're missing something here. Nothing for nothing left of the reactor except a water filled hole. There should be some scrap or something left. How long ago did this arcology shutdown? It couldn't have been picked this clean that fast."

Jay looks around with a confused expression on his face as he circles around the pool toward the east wall. With a shrug his walks over to the wall and attempts to open a small opening in it so they can see what lies beyond it.

Brennet moves over and does as asked. Using his color manipulation power he makes a small 'window' area (about 1ft x 1ft) of the east and north walls as clear as glass.

Black Dog does nothing at first.

Jay wrote: "I don't smell anything besides the general nasty of this place but the way you describe it, I'm glad I don't smell it."

"Nope, not unless you like the smell of cat piss on a tire fire."

He does not know where it is, but something nasty is nearby. Nothing good makes it's nest in nuclear waste or produces this terrible smell.

Black Dog arms himself, his "claws" now gleam as much as the light will allow, but he himself remains a shadow blending in with the dark corners around them.

Black Dog sings to the unseen with a barely audible taunt,

"I know your here-re, come out, come out, wherever you are!"

He waits; he watches.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:35-2:40 pm

Black Dog prepares for a fight based on the scent he was smelling, while Brennet takes Jay Sark's advice and makes a section of the walls clear. All he can see is more rock. The walls must be thick in this room. Brute makes a suggestion to Presence that she race back down the path with some water and a dosimeter to see if that is the source of the dosimeter's quick pinging. She does just that reports back over the radio. ”Its still pinging very quickly, Brute but I think it may have slowed down. It's hard to tell with how close we are currently. I can go even further out and report back via radio again. Presence out.” Jay tries to open a doorway through the wall, but the rock is thicker than his power can handle.

Cascade swims through the tunnel and doesn't notice any underwater threats. He pops his head out of the water on the other side and notices that he's in a cave. He's behind some sort of submersible vehicle. He also notices sounds. People talking, things being moved and some particularly heavy thuds from something big moving. He hears a particularly gruff and raspy voice say ”Hurry up, I'm getting sick of this place.” Another more high pitched male voice says ”Hey, did you hear something?”

Brute frowns. It's probably not the water... He shakes his head before radioing her, "No, return to our location. Brute out." As he anxiously awaits word from Cascade, his antennae continue to twerk, trying to work out the strange scent in this place.

"MOTHER%*@@r!, GODDAMNED SHITE-FECK!! AAARGH"

Black Dog roars in frustration.

As a kid, Tom Regan had been afraid of water and had never learned to swim. The Hellborn Bloodhound curses the boy he once was. In his mind he looms over the young Tommy, a boy of eleven, at the edge of a pool and berates the boy mercilessly: "You little fecking, gutless coward. You make me puke. You're a feckimg disgrace!"

"I can't swim for shite, boss..." Black Dog informs Brute. "Feck this, I'll make my own way!"

Black Dog finds the most logical spot and begins digging through the wall/floor. His his huge claws punching through concrete, bending metal and then crushing the chunks he rips from the barrier.

Jay curses to himself as his doorway power turns out to be ineffectual against the too thick walls. Turning, he heads back over toward Brute, "I'm a pretty good swimmer and can hold my breath for a stretch." He stops abruptly when Black Dog starts cursing and begins to tear into the floor.

Leaning in toward Brute, Jay asks, "Is Black Dog always like this? He seems kinda driven by his nature?" Giving a shrug, Jay says, "Well, its good to say that the water isn't radioactive at least, though its going to be hard as hell to get to Cascade and Brennet if something goes wrong."

Black Dog wrote:"I can't swim for shite, boss... Feck this, I'll make my own way!"

Brute stands back as Black Dog begins tunneling through the solid walls. He takes a tentative look at the water, then back at the rapidly growing hole Black Dog is digging. "Right on, BD." Maybe not the stealthiest way to travel, but I'll be damned if I leave Cascade alone any longer than I have to.

Brennet wrote:"I can go."

Brute nods, and takes the proffered weapon. "Thank you, B... Brennet."

Jay Sark wrote:"Is Black Dog always like this? He seems kinda driven by his nature?"

Brute nods, smiling slightly. "He's a bad-tempered carnivorous werewolf... but he's OUR bad-tempered carnivorous werewolf." He smiles at the clawing werewolf. "We butted heads a bit when he started on the team, but... he gets the job done."

Jay Sark wrote:"Well, its good to say that the water isn't radioactive at least, thought its going to be hard as hell to get to Cascade and Brennet if something goes wrong."

Brute grimaces. "Uhh... nobody said the water wasn't radioactive. In extremis, I can go get them myself. I'd just rather not... I dunno... sprout gills or tentacles or anything. If I don't have to. Seems every time I come into contact with strange gunk it catalyzes my unique biology in unexpected ways. Or, as Wi-Fi put it, it has "Serious Results." He gestures at, and with, his insect-like extra arms.

Catalyzes my biology? When did I start thinking like that? Is that another change... one I didn't register when it happened?

Except me, I guess. He stares into the dark water, admittedly afraid of it having an effect on him - he remembers the blackout pain his last traumatic adaptation caused him, and he's not eager to repeat it. I could probably swim it. But... let's call that 'Plan B'.

He hears a particularly gruff and raspy voice say ”Hurry up, I'm getting sick of this place.” Another more high pitched male voice says ”Hey, did you hear something?”

Cascade immediately starts channeling his training and goes into "stealth mode." His submerges as silently as possible, swims up to the shore, and brings his head up just enough to take stock of what is going on. In preparation for a fight, he reaches down to grab his pistols...to find nothing there. Oh shit! I left them by the team...

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:40-2:45 pm

Cascade dips back under the water, waits a while and slowly makes his way to shore. Popping his head up from the water slightly, he sees a dock with a submersible attached to it, and the back of someone wearing oversized pants and a black shirt. It seems they were just looking at the water but something else just distracted them.

Leaving his laser rifle behind, Brennet dives in the water to find Cascade and although he has a hard time tracking the man's smell, he can see the tunnel that is the only place he could have possibly gone. Brennet swims through and sees Cascade moving with a natural grace underwater. He watches as the aquatic supersoldier gets closer to the shore and then pops his head out of the water.

Black Dog burrows through the wall like it was nothing. Two and a half minutes later, he bursts through the wall and sees a group of some obvious superhumans holding crates on the other side of a cave. However, using his excellent vision, he notices some of them just look like regular if not somewhat weird people. There's a kid who couldn't be older than 14 in a grey hoodie. There's a young chubby boy (?) that looks like he's watched too many mad scientist movies with his bad hair and silly monocle. The rest of the Omegas who aren't in the water file in behind him with Teen Force Ultra in tow. Macro has to crawl through but she makes it. Black Dog's nose immediately recognizes the scent from earlier. It's coming from the buff guy with the good hair. The one who's pointing at him to signal his friends.

Feather leaps on to the large rock in front of him and points back at the people holding cases. He addresses the buff one. "Silver Serpent. I should have known you'd be here."
Silver Serpent: "What'd you bring your boyfriends with you?"
Feather: "They're not my boyfriends! Young Elite? Meet the Omegas. They're here to kick your butts."
Silver Serpent: "The Omegas? Where's my father? I've been waiting for this exact moment my whole life!"
Feather: "Uh... what?"
Silver Serpent: "Never mind, we will tear the information from your dead minds!"
Rocket Dog: "I don't think it works like that, dude."
Silver Serpent: "Shut up! Young Elite, take them down!"
Detonate: "Still not how it works."

Crap, if I survive, I need a water proof weapon, so I won't again be left unarmed like this.

Brennet quietly swims up to Cascade.
Swimming 85% Rolled: 1d100 = 22

Looks like five small submersibles in the other room, and five of them. Looks like those are how they come and go from here.
Brennet asks Cascade,"Should we quickly disable these submersibles, before they try to escape?"
He gestures to the large submersible next to them, and then the other 5 smaller ones in the other room.

Then he moves over to the submersible next to them to take a closer look at it.

If it is locked, Brennet makes use of his color manipulation power to make a small 1ft x 1ft window like section of it clear to look inside it.

As much as he wants to get into the fight with the rest of his team, he knows Brennet is right. Even without him and Brennet, Omegas currently hold the number advantage. He turns toward the large submersible Brennet is currently near. "Get clear," he says to his teammate as he begins to create spheres and place them all around the large submersible, trying to find places on the vehicle most likely to take it out of commission. When Brennet is clear, he'll blow them all.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:45:15 pm

The woman in the purple costume holds her hands, palms open, at her sides and they begin glowing a bright magenta. "Come get some." Feather runs along the west side of the crates. Silver Serpent flies straight up under his own power and a sheen of metal washes over his skin. He's now seemingly made of metal. Black Dog doesn't give a flying #*%$ what he's made of and runs directly toward the hovering metal man. The grey guy with the flannel tied around his waist makes a motion like he's throwing or waving something toward Black Dog. Black Dog hears something loud and rumbly zoom past him as he instinctively ducks under whatever the hell that was. The weird chubby kid with the bad hair taps the stupid monocle they're wearing and transforms into a weird looking version of themselves as a robot. They also pull out a laser pistol from their belt. "After we kill them, let's kill their families!" The small kid in the hoodie pops something green and leafy into his mouth and starts chewing rapidly. Brute can immediately feel the temperature on that side of the room start to raise rapidly. Jay runs toward the enemy but opposite Feather on the east side of the crates. Detonate's eyes begin glowing yellow and he runs straight up the center. Rocket Dog takes off in a trail of fire in the same direction as Detonate. Macro's huge stride follows the same path. "I've got Imp." Brute takes off in the direction of Jay, building up speed for a massive attack. Cascade generates and places an explosive charge on the underside of the large submersible while Brennet quickly creates a window to see into the vessel.

The woman in the purple costume slams her glowing magenta hands together in the rapidly approaching Black Dog's direction. A wave of purple energy radiates out from them but Black Dog simply drops to all four and continues under it toward his target. Feather continues running toward the fracas. Silver Serpent manifests a tendril of energy and lashes it perfectly across Black Dog's face, singeing the fur on his snout. Black Dog responds with a claw slash that leaves a visible scratch mark on Silver Serpent's metal form. Silver Serpent responds with "Bad dogs get put down." The grey kid opens his mouth and starts screaming in a much higher register than should be possible. Everyone hears it. Its effects include some minor pain but mostly making it difficult for anyone to concentrate. The ones who feel it most are Black Dog and Brute who have enhanced hearing. They find that they can no longer hear anything and their extraspatial senses are severely hindered. The weird kid that just turned into a robot presses another button on their, now robotic, monocle and breaks into many many tiny versions of their robotic self. "Yes, their families and their friends!" The kid in the hoodie with the heat problem seemingly self-immolates as fire rapidly consumes his body from the ground up, replacing it with a large demonic form. With horns. And cool tattoos. "Shut up, Maker. Ah, this is more like it." Jay continues to make his way up the east side, focusing through the debilitating noise. Detonate and Macro continue on their path down the center. Rocket Dog slams into the grey kid at high speed, using the impact to bounce into the demon (Imp) and then where he thought the robot kid (Maker) was. The grey kid gets knocked over from the attack, Imp just looks annoyed and when Rocket Dog reaches Maker, he finds that there are instead a lot of 6" Makers. Brute continues to run the room. Cascade places another charge and Brennet observes that there is a large stack of crates inside its hull as well as some high technological devices on a desk inside.

The woman in purple yells "I've got the wolfman!" and as she says it she does it, slamming a magenta fist into the side of Black Dog's head. He tries to avoid it, but her aim is great. Feather attempts a masterful toss of one of his custom feather shaped shuriken, but misses the woman in purple entirely. "Stand still, Dark Nimbus!" Silver Serpent tries to strike Black Dog with a glowing green fist, but the werewolf avoids the attack easily. Black Dog then returns the attack but it is avoided by the man of metal. The tiny Makers with their tiny laser guns would be cute if they weren't attempting to murder everyone around them. Their aim is terrible but their group tactics are potentially effective. Twelve of them track each hero, except Feather who has earned twenty, and fire their laser pistols at many different angles until they hit something. Half of them fire at a time and the only thing they hit is Macro. Imp leaps toward the approaching Macro and slashes a demonic clawed hand at her torso, landing a solid blow. Macro attempts to reciprocate but Imp parries her incoming large fist. Jay continues up the eastern side, almost in a good position to get some good shots in. Detonate continues running up the center. Rocket Dog takes off to gain some speed a la Brute who is still doing the same. Cascade places another sphere and warns Brennet away from the explosion that will happen momentarilly. The grey guy feels for the ground beneath him, working on getting up after having been knocked down.

Dark Nimbus cocks her arm back and delivers a perfect blow to Black Dog's head, causing the werewolf to see stars. Feather tosses another throwing feather at one of the Maker minibots, watching it bounce off of the robot's chassis. Black Dog focuses on his other senses to get him back in the fight, taking another swing at the Silver Serpent, but he finds that it is blocked. The Maker swarm fires at their targets, missing most everyone with Rocket/Black Dog both managing to avoid the blasts by instinctively weaving around them. Macro is hit again but seems focused on her fight with Imp. Imp claws Macro again, slashing at her shoulder and drawing a little blood. Macro tries to punch him back, but is quickly blocked again. Detonate reaches the grey dude and quips "I'm shutting you up, Screech." He then punches the noise generating man with a punch that packs an explosive bang. Screech is knocked back down and struggles with getting back to his feet. Rocket Dog slams his entire self into Imp in an attempt to aid Macro, but Imp knocks the attack away. Brute, having gained plenty of speed, aims himself toward Silver Serpent. Cascade places another explosive charge around the ship.

Feather moves into melee range with Dark Nimbus and tries to execute a well practiced Wing Chun kick but she knocks his leg away easily. Black Dog claws at Silver Serpent and leaves another set of claw marks on his shiny hide. The Maker swarm entirely misses Feather, Black Dog and Rocket Dog, with Brute weaving around their blasts at high-speed and Feather doing an impressive backflip over a second set of bots attacking him. They find their mark with Macro who is busy with other things but they also hit Detonate, dispersing harmlessly around him. Imp stops attacking Macro for a moment to allow a set of demonic bat wings to sprout from his back. Brute cocks his arm back and prepares for all of his momentum to be placed into a single amazing punch. Cascade places another charge around the ship, getting ready for a massive explosion.

Feather tries a Hannigan Face Punch against Dark Nimbus, but he misses as she knocks his blow aside and makes her way toward Brute. Black Dog claws at Silver Serpent again but his lack of focus causes his attack to glance off of the armored form. The Maker swarm hits Macro and Detonate again, with Detonate seeming to feel the second attack a little bit. Black Dog, Feather and Rocket Dog all weave around the attacks. Jay finally finds a solid post to attack from. Good cover and all. Even through the detrimental effects of the earlier sonic assault, Brute puts his all into a punch to knock the hell out of Silver Serpent. As he's inches away from Silver Serpent's face, he feels a pressure on "Results". Simultaneously, as he slams his fist at super speed into Silver Serpent's stomach and feels it slide off as the blow only glances the armored man, he feels a familiar sensation with an odd twist. Either the world is getting a little bigger or he's getting smaller. In an instant, he has transformed into back Clint Jackson but he feels most of his Brute powers still intact. Looking back at "Results", he can see Dark Nimbus holding on to it. "Jackpot." Cascade places a charge on the hull of the submersible.

Black Dog tries, through his hazy head, to strike at Silver Serpent three more times, each time the strike is blocked. Brute attempts to punch Silver Serpent again, but between the new hybrid of normal Clint with Brute powers and the whammy that was put on his balance, Brute delivers another glancing blow. From the other side of the water, Cascade blows his charges. The submersible doesn't sink immediately, but there is definitely smoke raising from many parts of it.

End of Round 1.

Perception: 1d20+17 = 23
JIC: 1d20 = 2 , 1d100 = 58
Initiative: 1d20+3 = 17

Cascade has this fine. I can go back , get my rifle to be more useful, and defend myself. Then use the tunnel they made to disable those small submersibles in the other room.

After Cascade's explosions go off, Brennet says to him, "I'm going to try and reach the other small submersibles while you finish up here."

Brennet goes back into the water swims back to the other room. Gets his Laser Rifle.
Swimming Skill 85% Rolled: 1d100 = 23

Then he sneaks through the tunnel into the other room, heading for concealment cover.
Map looks like there is some near the Tunnel Entrance.
Prowl Skill 110% Rolled: 1d100 = 5 +Cloaking Power +Unnoticeable Power

Brennet isn't super fast (Normal Spd13) so the above will probably eat all his actions. If it doesn't, he intends to use his laser rifle to start sniper shooting to disable the small submersibles in the other room. Starting with the 3 that are furthest from him (Top left of map). This will cut off their escape route, and it doesn't risk hitting teammates firing into that fray.

APM:5 (-movement actions) = probably not any left.
If there are:
2 actions Aimed Laser Rifle to disable small submersible furthest from him top left of map.
To Hit +3WP +3Aimed +2Sniper = +8 Rolled: 1d20+8 = 18 Damage: 5d6 = 28

Auto-Dodge as needed:
1d20+2 = 3 , 1d20+2 = 22 , 1d20+2 = 8 , 1d20+2 = 5 , 1d20+2 = 18

Brute feels the pressure on his new-grown arm, and feels himself shrink down to his human size. He notices he still has his new arms, his antennae, still feels strong, still feels fast. But the sounds of battle have faded away, and he finds himself in a mental fog.

By Odin! What the frak happened? How did...?

He turns to Dark Nimbus, still touching his arm, frowning. His intention is to say "What did you do to me", but it comes out as, "Wahrdoodooa'me?" ... and he doesn't hear himself say anything. His antennae go mad, trying to account for the reduction in senses, and in so doing, reduce their efficacy even further.

Cascade isn't quite satisfied with the result of his exploding spheres, but it appears to have done the job. From the sounds of it, things might not be going great for his teammates. Gotta get in this fight, he thinks to himself.

Brennet wrote:"I'm going to try and reach the other small submersibles while you finish up here."

Roger that, he says, acknowledging his comrade. As quickly as he can, Cascade swims up to the shore by the dock to take note of the fight and who is where. Since I don't have my pistols, I'll have to try and use the water to my advantage. Taking note of the enemies, he tries to pick his targets carefully. Let's see if I can't at least throw them off balance and give me teammates an advantage. Using the water closest to each enemy, Cascade attempts to slam water into them.

Jay gives his head a little shake and moves his jaw like he's in an airplane and trying to equalize the pressure in his ears. Regardless, he lifts his shotgun up, using the crates he has for cover to steady himself and begins to unload the stun rounds at Dark Nimbus. Frak, I hope all these guys are susceptible to these stun rounds. There's not really any time to unload these the slow way and put live ammo in.

Jay puts his trust in the crates to give him cover and the other heroes to keep the villains distracted as he continues to fire. As soon as he scores two hits on Dark Nimbus, just to be sure, Jay shifts his aim and tries to get at least one shot in at Screech, Silver Serpent and and the Imp but only if he can avoid hitting his teammates.

If there aren't any clear shots at Screech, Sliver Serpent or the Imp, Jay will swing the shotgun back toward all the mini Makers. Crap, this feels like a waste but... He focuses on the larger concentrations of the mini villain and fires. its the easiest way to clear the weapon.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:45:30 pm

Black Dog jumps toward Silver Serpent, jaws wide open attempting to grab a limb between his teeth. Silver Serpent barely manages to swat the werewolf's jaws aside. Cascade quickly swims to the shore. Detonate's fists light up bright yellow as he winds up for a large explosive punch at Screech. Imp opens his demonic mouth and releases a gout of fire at Macro, singeing the giant's arm. Jay fires off a shotgun stun round at Dark Nimbus just as she begins to transform into a large red monster. The stun rounds bounce off of her skin harmlessly. Brennet starts his swim back to the other room to grab his laser rifle. Silver Serpent lashes the disoriented Black Dog with his Energy Whip. Screech works on getting up after having been knocked on his butt previously. Rocket Dog gets a quick start and slams into Imp's left wing, damaging it. The Maker Swarm (1-40) fire blasts from their tiny energy pistols at Feather, Detonate and Macro missing the first and hitting the last two. Detonate barely seems to feel the hits. Feather extends his metal bo staff and takes a running sweep at one of the swarm, hitting it dead center. Macro picks up one of the large crates that litters the room. Brute winds up for a massive punch at Dark Nimbus' expense.

Black Dog tries again to snag one of Silver Serpent's limbs, but his teeth can't find purchase against the metallic skin of this man. Cascade commands the water surrounding the group to rise up to the heights of the cave and when it starts to come down, it is aimed at Dark Nimbus. Detonate sends an bright yellow glowing fist toward Screech, but it is knocked away by Screech's nimble arms. Imp claws at Macro but can't get through her tough skin. Jay goes to fire his shotgun at Dark Nimbus again, but this time the gun jams! In her new monstrous form, Dark Nimbus extends a clawed hand that's glowing with energy toward Brute's face and connects when Brute fails to get his hands up in time. Brute is sure of one thing in this moment, that hit hurt. Screech starts his high pitched howling again, re-injuring the ears of those around him and ruining the heightened senses of Black Dog and Brute. Rocket Dog tries the same tactic as before, but Imp swats him away with the swing of a powerful red demonic arm. The Maker Swarm fires at Black Dog and misses entirely, at Brute who dodges it as if nothing happened and at Rocket Dog who isn't even in the same place when the blasts reach. Feather goes to strike the same Maker Bot with his bo, but accidentally presses the trigger to collapse the bo and misses entirely. Macro lobs the crate she picked up straight into Imp's chest, knocking the wind out of him. Brute swings at Dark Nimbus with a powerful blow from his crystalline fist but misses entirely and socks Detonate in the head. The teen looks at him funny and then smiles. "Thanks for the boost!" Brennet continues swimming.

Black Dog goes for the other arm this time but is swatted away with ease. Cascade's water comes crashing down on the monstrous Dark Nimbus. Or at least where she would have been had she not moved out of the way quickly. Detonate's fists begin to glow again. Imp claws at Macro but this time manages to cut her. Dark Nimbus swings for Brute again with her Energy Fist and Claw combo, but Brute dodges out of the way. Black Dog smells a change in Silver Serpent's fist (cotton candy?) as the villain attempts to punch Black Dog, but the werewolf blocks the incoming attack. Rocket Dog tries his luck again with Imp, this time knocking into his right wing and sending the demonic boy spinning and landing on his ass. The Maker fires at Feather and misses, at Detonate as well as Macro and hits both. Feather hits the trigger on his bo, extending it and then tries to swipe it at the same Maker Bot but misses. Macro tries to hit the down Imp but the demon barely manages to get his hands up in time to block the punch. Brute winds up for another powerful punch. Brennet makes it to the shore in the other room.

Black Dog tries a fourth time to lock down a limb but can't seem to connect. Cascade calls forth to the water again, sending it high as can be. Detonate swings another glowing fist at Screech, but is blocked by quicker hands than his own. Jay works to get his shotgun clear of the jam. Dark Nimbus claws at Brute again, slashing at his Omega Suit. Black Dog smells another change in Silver Serpent's fist (rotting fish?) and manages to avoid another smelly punch. Screech stretches his arms wide open and starts to bring them back, palms facing each other. Rocket Dog tries his same trick on Imp but is swatted away at high speed. The Maker Swarm fires at Black Dog and hits his Omega Suit but misses both Brute and Rocket Dog. Feather hits one of the swarm with his bo. Macro tries to punch Imp but is parried. Brute connects with a SERIOUS power punch, but it glances off of Dark Nimbus' hardened red hide. Brennet reaches his laser rifle.

Cascade fires his water down on to Silver Serpent but it slides right off of the metal man's skin. Detonate swings at Screech again and warns the gathered Omegas and Teen Force Ultra to "Stand back!" Dark Nimbus slashes another Energy Fist/Claw at Brute, catching the Omega in the jaw. Screech slams his hands together and a loud noise zooms past Detonate but misses him. Rocket Dog gets some speed and then rushes toward Imp again. Feather hits another Maker Swarm bot with his bo staff. Brute winds up for another power punch at Dark Nimbus.

Cascade draws some more water into the sky. Dark Nimbus swings a perfectly executed energy punch at Brute's jaw (NAT20!!!) but Brute's amazing agility kicks in and he ducks underneath it (NAT20!!!) avoiding what would have certainly been lights out. Rocket Dog tries to bounce off of three targets at once, but is knocked off balance by Imp and then misses Silver Serpent and Screech. Feather strikes another Maker Swarm bot with his bo staff, sending some sparks flying. Brute tries to return the punch to Dark Nimbus, but she uses his stolen agility to move out of the way.

Cascade slams a wave of water onto a large section (1-20) of the Maker Swarm bots, damaging them all. He then creates an exploding sphere in his hand. Feather follows up by swatting another one with his bo staff. Jay manages to get his Shotgun jam cleared and reloaded.

Jay curses to himself as he's hit with another stunning blow from the man with the sound powers, Time to put that boy down! Trying to shake it off, he slings the shotgun and charges counter clockwise, up around the crates. Then he runs between Macro and Silver Serpent straight at Screech for a powered body block. That pool behind him looks like a great place to deposit the villain.

If anyone gets in his way, Jay will simply dodge and charge past them.

Finally! Seeing everyone is too close together to use his sphere without hurting his team, he tosses the sphere back towards the large craft just to so a little extra damage to it. He then continues to slam water towards Dark Nimbus, knowing he'll be ineffective against Silver Serpent.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:45:45 pm

Brennet moves back through the tunnel Black Dog built earlier with his laser rifle in hand. Feather lashes out at the Maker bot nearest him, but it weaves out of the way. Silver Serpent unleashes a steam from his person that Black Dog can smell very potently. It smells like cotton candy and for a few seconds, Black Dog starts to laugh uncontrollably but in a creepy dark werewolf way. Screech starts his high pitched scream again, affecting everyone's equilibrium and damaging their ear drums. Only Brennet is far away enough to avoid the effects of this attack. Imp's demonic claws slash at Macro, tearing at the giant woman's flesh. Black Dog, through the laughter, executes a perfect leaping bite to Silver Serpent's left arm, dragging the flying metal man down to the ground. Macro returns the punch to Imp, but the demon's tough skin doesn't even register the attack. Dark Nimbus claws at Brute with energy surrounding her hands. Brute blocks the attack easily. Detonate starts to glow bright yellow and screams "I said get back!" Jay/Breach moves around the crates to close in on Screech, his new target. Rocket Dog slams into Silver Serpent at 700 MPH, hitting him easily now that Black Dog has him held down. Brute winds up for a power punch at Dark Nimbus, recalling the number of times he had been knocked out during a fight as his main weakness. The Maker swarm fires their miniature lasers at the surrounding heroes, missing Feather, Brute and Macro but hitting Detonate (who barely feels it), Rocket Dog and perfectly hitting Black Dog who is busy holding down Silver Serpent. Cascade tosses his exploding sphere at the large submersible, blasting away a nice sized chunk of the hull.

Brennet continues making his way toward the fracas. Feather misses yet another one of the nimble bots. Silver Serpent releases another steam directly into Black Dog's face. This time it smells like a metal grinder and it starts to itch really badly. Imp claws Macro again, but her skin is tough enough that it just bounces off. Macro returns the favor, but is parried. Dark Nimbus goes for another attack toward Brute, but is parried. Detonate explodes hitting everyone in a 10 foot radius. Only Cascade and Brennet are far away enough to avoid this attack. Jay continues maneuvering around the battlefield to get his shot at Screech. Rocket Dog executes another high speed attack toward Silver Serpent, causing his metal shell to dissipate. Brute swings with all of his supernatural might at the head of the foe who has stolen his signature power in the hopes of knocking her out. He underestimates his strength and knocks Dark Nimbus' head clean off her body. As the head separates from the shoulders, she transforms from a large red monster to her original human form. Her body falls to its knees and then prone to the ground as the life leaves her. Simultaneously, the feeling of power rushes back into his body. He can transform again. The Makers fire on their targets again, missing Feather as he nimbly moves out of the way, Brute as he does the same and Rocket Dog who is just moving too fast to be touched. They hit Macro, Black Dog and Detonate, the last two are particularly strong blasts but between Black Dog's toughness and Detonate's seeming energy resistance, they are both doing alright. Cascade starts another water slam, but given that Dark Nimbus' head is no longer attached to her body, he aims for the swarm of Maker bots near Feather.

Brennet keeps running. Feather just barely misses snagging a Maker bot. Silver Serpent releases another steam from his pores that smells like garlic and almonds. Breathing it in, Black Dog instantly feels a burning sensation in his lungs as well as slightly weaker. It goes away as quickly as it started as does the previous itching sensation he was feeling. Imp claws at Macro again but doesn't make it through her tough skin. Macro throws another punch but is blocked by Imp. Detonate changes his focus and using the energy from Brute's punch to his face earlier, unleashes a massive torrent of energy that blasts the hell (pun intended) out of Imp, rendering the demon unconscious and reverting him back to a large but young boy who's lying face down on the ground. Jay moves even closer to his target. Rocket Dog slams into Silver Serpent who's still being held by Black Dog. Brute winds up for another power punch toward Screech. Cascade brings down the water hammer on the Maker bots near Feather, but they skitter out of the way.

Brennet runs and is almost in range. He brings his rifle to bear toward the battle. Feather misses yet another bot with his staff. Silver Serpent releases a steam that causes Black Dog to tear up. The werewolf can't see through his stinging eyes, but doesn't need to in order to keep his grip on the Silver Serpent. Screech fires off a wave of sound toward Brute, hitting his Omega Suit but not doing much else. With Imp finally out of the picture, Macro smiles and starts stomping on the Makers. She hits and destroys 3 of them. Detonate's fist glows and he goes to punch Screech. Jay moves even closer to Screech. Rocket Dog slams into Silver Serpent again at breakneck speeds. Brute tries to punch Screech but is parried. Cascade starts another water slam toward the robots.

Brennet fires a shot from his laser rifle at one of the bots near Feather, blasting it to pieces. Feather tries to strike another bot but misses. Screech fires off another sound wave at Brute and hits him. Detonate sends an explosive fist into Screech's chest, sending him off balance and stumbling forward 3 feet. Jay starts to charge toward Screech. Rocket Dog hits Silver Serpent again, but even without his silver coating, he has very tough skin. Brute gets ready for another power punch toward Screech. Cascade slams water into the Maker bots near Feather, severely damaging many of them.

Feather misses with his bo staff yet again. Jay times the release of kinetic energy just right to take advantage of Screech's off balance stumble. Seeing that Brute is about to punch the kid, Jay shoulder checks him directly into Brute's power punch, sending the sonic youth (pun intended) into the water behind them. Rocket Dog slams into Silver Serpent again, counting on his protective field to do damage and keep him from harm. It's working. The blustery villain seems unable to extract himself from the Black Dog/Rocket Dog combo. Cascade tries to execute one more water slam but the bots move out of the way. Feather finally hits one of the many bots, destroying it.

End of Round 3.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:46-2:50 pm

With the combined force of the Omegas and Teen Force Ultra, the Young Elite are one by one taken down with prejudice. Silver Serpent and the Maker bots are all that is left. As it seems that he has no chance of winning, Silver Serpent screams out "Stop! Don't kill me!" Looking into his eyes, you can see the terror as he watches his teammate's headless body bleed out on the floor of a subterranean cave. Jay Sark begins stomping on the Maker Bots who rejoin into their main body. The Maker (still in techno form) is backing away slowly with his hands up. They back into a cave wall and a shimmering door opens directly behind them. They step through it and as quickly as it appeared, it is gone. Most of the Young Elite are either dead or maybe unconscious. Silver Serpent has surrendered and The Maker has escaped.

After a few moments, the Omegas regain their balance and any lost hearing, although a ringing persists. Presence is nowhere to be found. The Teens are tending to their wounds.

What are you doing?
Combat is over.
Let the GAMES begin.

The ringing in his ears nearly drowns out Silver serpent's surrender, but the look on his face says enough. Brute looks at his crystalline fist, covered in blood, then looks at the headless corpse at his feet.

"Good call." Because I honestly don't know if you'd have survived. "Next time an Omega tells you to surrender, do it quickly."

Brute points around the room, saying "Brennet, Cascade, have a look around for evidence. Keep an eye out for element 157. Anyone who has healing or first aid skills see to Black Dog, please."

He turns back to Silver Serpent, and waves Feather over to join in the questioning. "Good job surrendering. Saved lives. Now, you're going to tell us everything you know about what the Young Elite and the Order are doing in my city... but first, you're going to tell me this..." Brute raises his bloodied crystalline fist to Silver Serpent's face.

Brennet nods at Brute's instruction. He then proceeds to start looking around in more detail.

From a far less 'law and order , due-process' place and life , Brennet's 1st impression is not that Brute was referring to a court of law type evidence. Instead, more along the lines of clues, and evidence of where the rest of their gang might be, or where the missing Young Elite might be. That kind of thing.

As he begins his search he considers the fight compared to the other near utopian conditions he saw before .. Seems like this place is only soo pretty on the surface. There are obviously powerful threats and dangers here too. They are well hidden.

Brennet starts his search by going to wear he last saw 'Maker' wanting to try and get a good sample of his scent while it's still fresh.

Jay hurries over to where Maker disappeared through some kind of portal. Pressing a hand against the rocky cave wall, he attempts to open a doorway of his own. I doubt this will work. Its not likely there is a space behind this wall or that Maker has the same power as me. But I gotta try.

When/if Jay fails to open a doorway into some adjacent passage, he will turn around and start checking over the cavern. If no one has already done it, he will go over to the pool of water and pull Screech out. If the boy is still alive, Jay will handcuff his hands behind his back and sit him down with the rest of the captured villains.

Moving a couple steps back to watch over those they captured, Jay makes a point of letting them see him check over his shotgun, making sure a round is chambered. Then he grins and says, "First one to speak up might get some special consideration." Crap, I really should get them back to base and separate them out for individual interrogation but with the missing man, we don't have the time.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:50-2:52 pm

Brute sidles up to the Silver Serpent who is looking more and more nervous as the large red monster gets closer. Brute gives out some orders and then focuses on interrogating the teen with Feather.
Brute wrote:"Good job surrendering. Saved lives. Now, you're going to tell us everything you know about what the Young Elite and the Order are doing in my city... but first, you're going to tell me this..." Brute raises his bloodied crystalline fist to Silver Serpent's face. "Where. Is. Silicate."

Feather and Brute watch as the Silver Serpent's eyes widen while being threatened. "Oh god! Don't hit me! I don't know! I don't know! I heard Uber say that Silicate is in the Fluxzone and Prototype J hacked his system to get the data that told us about the cases of Sarnium and their plan for it! They didn't even know we were here! We were just trying to impress them! Show them that we could do it as big as them! Shit, please don't kill me! You're supposed to be the good guys!"
Feather: "Wow, he didn't even touch you and you're crying like a baby. Some tough guy you are."
Silver Serpent: "He killed them! Look! He's a monster!"

Brennet picks up on Maker's scent. It's one of motor oil and electrical fires. He notices that there is a trail of footprints leading up to the location of the large submersible. Underwater, Brennet notices a tunnel large enough for the submersible to fit through.

Jay's attempts to open a doorway behind Maker are for naught. He turns back around and checks out the cavern. He notices Screech floating in the pool of water and drags the youngster's body out. He is definitely not alive. The child formerly known as Imp is unconscious as Jay finds out by checking his pulse. It's weak but he is still alive in there somewhere. He cuffs him and brings him by Silver Serpent.

Black Dog sees Macro walking up to him out of the corner of his eye with a roll of gauze. He doesn't respond to it well.
Macro: "Alright then you damn baby, I'll take care of my own wounds. Not like you're the only one who got the crap beat out of him." She holds her shoulder while a few claw wounds bleed profusely.

Rocket Dog starts flitting about the room in a blaze of speed. While Brute is attempting to get serious information out of Silver Serpent, Rocket Dog is rather annoyingly saying "Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey." Disappearing for a few seconds between each word, he begins to amass a pile of briefcases behind him. "Hey. Hey. Heyheyheyheyhey! Is this it?" He clicks open one of the briefcases and reveals six of these canisters lined up.

Brute listens to Silver Serpent's confession with satisfaction, though a small part of him is deeply uneasy about the way in which it was obtained. He nearly flinches when the kid says "You're supposed to be the good guys." A million recriminations flash through his mind, followed by a million rationalizations. This... is a moral quandary for another time.

He turns to Feather. "Any of that make any sense to you? Fluxzone?" Brute searches his memory to see if he has any knowledge of that whatsoever.

He turns back to Silver Serpent, pointing at his chest. "I'm an Omega. We don't play games in Century Station, you simpleton. I told you to surrender. You didn't. You endangered lives, and I ended it. Plain as day. Discussion over."

He watches Rocket Dog stacking up the briefcases of Sarnium, AKA Element 157, and gives him a thumbs-up - though without his characteristic cheese-eating grin. Something abut this victory feels... pyrrhic.

He looks at Imp's unconscious body. "If anyone has any first aid skill, please tend to Imp. The rest of us, let's prep these prisoners and those cases for transport. Soon as we're clear of this structure I'll radio CSPD for pick up."

Once the team is loaded up with cases, Brute will frog-march Silver Serpent and carry Imp up and out of the Labyrinth at high speeds, looking to evade encounters with the locals.

Jay nods to Brute's orders and starts to try and stabilize Imp for transport. He says over his shoulder to Silver Serpent, "This wasn't a game of freeze tag. We are the authorities. When met with deadly force we respond in kind for the protection of ourselves, our teammates and the general population. Death of a criminal is not what hope for but even the NP... er, regular police carry guns so as a criminal you gotta know it's a possibility."

If Jay is not able to stabilize Imp or determine what is wrong with him, he simple says, "Imp needs to get to a hospital ASAP."

Standing from his first aid work on Imp, he looks over the rest of the teen criminals and shakes his head, Idiot kids playing at being the big bad wolf. Think its something cool or whatever. He turns and gives Detonate a nod, knowing the youth has had a troubled past.

Looking around at all the villian's gear, Jay asks, "Should some of us stay here on guard until CSPD can come and impound all of this? Or do we need to just seal the room off ourselves?"

Brute considers this a moment. "No," he decides. "I'm not leaving anyone behind. We seize what we can and get the hell out of the Labyrinth." He glances briefly at Feather before adding, "This place is megadusted."

"And we still have to find and rescue Silicate."

Despite all the charges and such, the large submersible still there ... and the path leading to it .. Brennet is curious.
He moves in closer , he uses his color manipulation to turn part of it clear so he can look inside the ship.

Brute turns to Teen force Ultra, and to Jay Sark and Cascade, two of the newer members of the Omegas. "Can anyone here pilot a sub? And... do we have a hacker presently? Subs might have GPS data stored."

He looks over at Brennet in appreciation, and flashes him a quick thumbs-up.

Cascade chuckles a little at the questions. "You'd think, given my skill set, but no. I've never needed to pilot one since I can generally swim faster than them." He suddenly remembers he left his pistols at the top of the tunnel. "Oh shit! I forgot the SIsters! I'll be right back." Diving back into the water, Cascade swims back up the tunnel to wear he'd left his two energy pistols.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 2:52-3:10 pm

Brute wrote:He turns to Feather. "Any of that make any sense to you? Fluxzone?"

Feather shakes his head. "No sir. First I've heard of it. Must be some thing related to these briefcases though. If they were loading them up to impress those Order jerks, then we should definitely see what this stuff is. Nice job Rocket." Feather copies Brute's thumbs up.

Jay Sark goes to check out Imp and can't feel a pulse (crit fail). It might be because he's looking for it on the young man's earlobe, but he determines that the boy previously known as Imp is deceased.

Silver Serpent just puts his head down and goes silent, completely malleable and able to be guided around. "I want a lawyer."

Rocket Dog: "I can pilot a submersible!"
Feather: "No. No you can't. You tried that once. We almost died."
Rocket Dog: "Well, I can hack the computers!"
Macro: "Nope. That's Pulse. Once again, you tried it out. We almost died."
It is determined that no one present is capable of piloting a submersible vehicle and so the team decides to hoof it back the way they came. But not before Cascade recovers his energy pistols.

There are 27 briefcases gathered up. The combined team each grab a suitcase or two, leaving behind quite a bit. Brute has Silver Serpent's hands pinned behind his back and is frog marching him out of the Labyrinth. He can't achieve high speeds without injuring Silver Serpent, so he sticks with the group for the time being.

The walk back through the Labyrinth is sketchy. Gunshots can be heard in the background and drug deals can be seen in the foreground. But the Omegas and TFU have bigger fish to fry, carrying the unknown element that may save a teammate's life.

Brute makes his radio call to CSPD for pickup and gets the following in return. "The Labyrinth is off limits, Brute. Director's orders. If you can get your crew to Kerguelen or Saratoba, we can initiate a pick-up. Until then you're on your own." The team's APCs are parked on the outskirts of the Labyrinth. You are ¼ of the way through.

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.
